Chris Jones has been a full time artist for over twenty years and has painted a variety of subjects in that time - from exotic wildlife, studied during travels abroad, to familiar British and domestic subjects; from extinct and endangered species, to works involving elements of still life and portraiture.

He is best known for his realistic portrayals of poultry subjects (both of specific breeds, and larger works featuring many birds) but has recently turned his attention to another subject for which he has had a long-standing passion – orchids. Having kept them for many years, he is currently developing a body of orchid work alongside his usual poultry and wildlife output.

Drawing inspiration from a variety of sources, both past and present, his work often combines a meticulous technique with complex and intriguing compositions, to create unusual and arresting images - vibrant with colour and life, yet nuanced and truthful in their representation of individual creatures or plants.

He often works to commission, but has exhibited widely in the UK and US, including at the Royal West Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Society of Wildlife Artists, and has featured in a variety of general and specialist publications – one of his pieces recently making the cover of Country Life magazine.
